Club Service at The Rotary Club of Kittery

The Rotary Club of Kittery now follows the Rotary International Club Leadership Plan.

The Club's Board of Directors consists of: the President, President–elect,Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Immediate Past President and 5 Directors-at-large, one of whom is appointed as Sergeant-at-arms.

The Club has five lead committees; each chaired by a Board member or includes a board member as co-chair:

  1. The Administration Committee, headed up by the President-elect,
  2. The Membership Committee
  3. The Foundation Committee
  4. The Public Relations Committee
  5. The Service Projects Committee

These five Committees work together to implement the Four Avenues of Rotary Service.

The Administration Committee is responsible for organizing the club meeting speaker programs, and the club Fundraisers.

No funds raised from the public are used for club administration. Club administration is funded by dues, and by proceeds from our weekly club meetings 50-50 raffle  as well as any small ($1) member "fines" for having to leave early (scooter dollar), missing a meeting, having your picture in the paper, etc. - we are not a big "fine" club.

Club Service also includes social events.  In addition to participation at District social events, the club has at least two scoial gaterhings a year, one of which is centered around the District Governor's annual official visit to the club.  Additional club social events can be planned at any time.  (Check out our Club Social Photo Album in the website.)

Fund Raisers to support local and national projects have included:

  •  Sale of a lottery calendar featuring photographs of old Kittery and the surrounding seacoast area.
  •  The "Taste of Kittery & Silent Auction" where local restaurants provide a "tasting" off their menu.
  • A "Celebrity Dinner" is planned for the first time in October 2008.
  • A "Pizza Bowl Night" is in the planning for this coming year.
  • Happy/Sad Dollars ~ a time in the meeting when attendees are invited to pay $1 to share a piece of news with the club, this has become very popular since we decided to dedicate our H/S dollars to specific needs in our community and has resulted in everybody getting to know each other very well as we share our bits of news – it raises about $2400 a year!
